Kinabatangan River Cruises
Morning and evening river cruises (each lasting about 3–3.5 hours) on the Kinabatangan and its side branches through the Borneo jungle.
It's nice to see the sunrise and sunset on a river that flows through the jungle. Also, it's enjoyable to watch the life awakening in the jungle as well as preparing for sleep: monkeys, birds, crocodiles, elephants...
There are pygmy elephants there, though the name doesn’t quite fit. They are a bit smaller than their African relatives but definitely not "pygmies."
The river is full of crocodiles, which, by the way, also prey on monkeys that swim across the river in search of food.
Krstarenja rekom Kinabatangan
Jutarnja I vecernja krstarenja (od po 3-3.5h) rekom Kinabatagan I rukavcima iste korz dzunglu Bornea.
Lepo je videte izlaske i zalaske sunca na reci koja prolazi kroz dzunglu.Isto tako, uzivanje je gledatibudjenje zivota u daungli kao i pripremu za spavanje; majmuni, ptice, krokodili, slonovi...
Tu su pigmejski slonovi kojima ime bas i ne odgovara. Jesu nesto manji od rodjaka iz Afrike ali sigurno nisu “pigmeji”.
Reka je puna krokodila koji se inace hrane i majmunima koji preplivavaju reku u potrazi za hranom.
Gomantong Caves
The Gomantong Caves are an intricate cave system inside Gomantong Hill. The caves are approx. 40-60m high.
For centuries, the caves have been renowned for their valuable edible swiftlet nests, which are harvested for bird's nest soup. The most valuable of the nests, the white ones, can sell for very high prices, 1200 euros per kg. The birds' nest collection is an ancient tradition, and the trading of these nests has been done since at least AD 500. Twice a year, from February to April and July to September, locals with licenses climb to the roof of the caves, using only rattan ladders, ropes, and bamboo poles, and collect the nests.
Gomantong pecine
Gomantong pećine su složen pećinski sistem unutar Gomantong brda. Pećine su otprilike 40-60m visoke.
Već vekovima, pećine su poznate po vrednim jestivim gnezdima ptica srebrnjaka, koja se beru za supu od ptica. Najvrednija gnezda, ona bela, mogu se prodati po vrlo visokim cenama, 1200 evra po kilogramu. Sakupljanje ptijih gnezda je drevna tradicija, a trgovina ovim gnezdima postoji barem od 500. godine nove ere. Dva puta godišnje, od februara do aprila i od jula do septembra, lokalci sa licencama penju se na krov pećina, koristeći samo merdevine od ratana, konopce i bambusove stubove, i sakupljaju gnezda.
