9th Leg: Bombay – Tehran
We reached Bombay on the 4th of August.
The first impression was that it doesn’t look like India. It looks more like London; architecture, red double deckers etc. Still, the spirit of India was in the air and around us: a lot of people were sleeping on the floor of the railway station, people were living on streets (literally); sleeping, using the streets as toilets etc.
We found a cheap (probably ½ star) hotel, as usual.
It was time for us to start thinking about going back home; exploring options, prices, ways…
One of the options was going from Bombay to Karachi (Pakistan) by boat. Then going through South Iran enter in Iraq in the South. It was in line with our first decision made in Istanbul. I wanted to see Persepolis (Iran) and Babylon (Iraq).
This option was unreal due to the price of the boat. Traveling by train was much cheaper.
The second option was traveling by train and bus. The plan was to go to Amritsar (India), Lahore (Pakistan), Kabul (Afghanistan), Teheran (Iran) and then to decide about the next step.
This option was more realistic and was accepted by all of us.
This leg was pretty long but, we practically didn’t take any photos since, it was more or less the same way we used to reach India. We were tired and full of impressions so, we didn’t notice anything attractive, except maybe Ahmedabad.
9. etapa: Bombaj – Teheran
U Bombaj smo stigli 4. avgusta.
