(kako to primecuje Ahmed Bosnic u Oslobodjenju 04.01.2026).

Koreja (1950–1953), Vijetnam (1955–1975), Grenada (1983), Panama (1989), Zalivski rat – Irak (1991), Avganistan (2001–2021), Irak – invazija i okupacija (2003–2011), Libija (2011), Bombardovanje Jugoslavije 1999, Jemen...

Vodja “slobodnog sveta” (kako cesto zovu Trampa) i taj “slobodni svet” koji cesto potencira “vladavinu prava” i svoje “vrednosti” ocigledno imaju neko svoje shvatanje prava i “vrednosti”.

Venezuela, Greenland, the rule of law (as seen by Donald Trump) or the Wild West Mentality

I browse through online “newspapers” (and occasionally follow the news on TV). The world has gone mad.

Donald Trump harasses anyone he can; he still hasn't stopped bombing Syria, bombs Iran, and constantly threatens everywhere: He threatens Cuba, Mexico, Panama, Colombia... (it's easier to list those he doesn't threaten).

"After supposedly, in the fight against South American drug traffickers, carrying out a pirate invasion and occupying Venezuela, it is astonishing that the world silently watches what has already been seen in Iraq and Libya." (as noted by Ahmed Bosnic in Oslobodjenje, 04.01.2026).

Already during his inauguration, he announced that he wants Greenland and, recently, has again expressed strong interest in it. He publicly stated that he wants the US to acquire 'ownership' of Greenland because he considers it's importance for American security due to geopolitical rivalry with Russia and China in the Arctic. Trump even, in interviews and statements, implied the possibility of using military force to gain control over Greenland and said that the US could act 'whether they like it or not.' The American Senate has also approved the annexation of Greenland (which is part of Denmark).

We should not forget that American actions over the past roughly 75 years have led to about 30 wars and conducted 'wars on terror.' To name just a few:

Korea (1950–1953), Vietnam (1955–1975), Grenada (1983), Panama (1989), Gulf War – Iraq (1991), Afghanistan (2001–2021), Iraq – invasion and occupation (2003–2011), Libya (2011), Bombing of Yugoslavia 1999, Yemen...

They act like 'an elephant in a china shop.'

Well, now, after all, what emerges as the conclusion? Who is the greatest threat to world peace? Of course, according to Western media, it is – Russia and China.

England, Germany, and France are participating in talks and planning within NATO to strengthen the security of Greenland and the Arctic in the context of growing threats from - Russia and China. There is talk of possible military deployments, larger military exercises, and NATO force coordination to reinforce deterrence against Russia and China in the Arctic.

So, Trump has almost taken Greenland, and Europe is planning how to protect it from - Russia and China.

Now I’m thinking, after the above, who is crazy here? Logic is useless to me (both the “common sense” kind and the one I learned in school). Something here is not right. The premises lead to one conclusion, but then, the “world authorities” point to another.

The Western world often follows the “rule of law.” The leader of the “free world” (as Trump is often called) and that “free world,” which frequently emphasizes the “rule of law” and its “values,” obviously have their own understanding of law and “values.”

I don’t know why, but something came to my mind: the Wild West Mentality. It seems to be a very serious and incurable disease; it is guided by the rule of law (of the stronger and faster), changes its intensity and mode of action; it is always aggressive, only sometimes openly and visibly (in Trump’s case) or covertly and operates under the radar (with his predecessors).

It will be interesting to see whether Trump will continue to be called “the leader of the Free World after his economic and military actions both locally and internationally.
