A MATTER OF HONOUR

ABOUT THE BOOK

Honour is a dying virtue.  Here we look at what honour means.  Not all warrior and conquerors were honourable but many unexpected people were.  It traces the concept of honour, looks at some people who fought and died or lived for their beliefs and some who risked all but did not fight physically for them.  It also looks at three very noble and honourable people a queen, a King and a warrior from three different countries in Europe over different time spans who embodied virtues of honour, integrity, self-sacrifice and so on.  No matter their different religions and traditions and languages, yet they were the same when it came to the basic values that make us the roof and crown of things.

Heroes and heroic deeds abound in history.  We need many volumes to talk about them.  Here I will concentrate on three heroic people who fought and died for a cause against overwhelming odds.  They span three different cultures belonging to different ages and societies but they all exhibit extreme heroism.  Death, they were aware, was inevitable but the causes they were fighting for was greater.  So dying for a cause, a country, freedom and belief was worth it.
