JORDAN
The first time I visited Jordan was 1980. Three weeks since the beginning of the war with Iran, I left Iraq by car. I went to Jordan and then, I spent 3 weeks travelling through Jordan, Syria, Greece, (which I reached by boat from Tartus, Syria).
Later, when I came back to Iraq, I visited Amman once or twice. The road Baghdad – Amman is approx. 1,000 km long, not so good quality, goes mostly through a desert. The speed was unlimited.
I liked Amman the moment the first time I went there. You can feel the sea and Mediterranean in the air even though Amman is not on the sea.
My company (700-800 people) had branch offices in Egypt, Kuwait, Iraq, Czechoslovakia, Hungary and Russia. I was transferred in 1985 from Iraq to Amman (Jordan) to establish the Jordan Branch Office, be representative and director of the Jordan Branch and to manage a few small jobs (USA$3-3.5 million) for the beginning. We expected a bigger one (part of the king’s palace). Finally, we didn’t get it.
In Jordan, I spent 2 nice years, from March 1985 till March 1987. I had a chance to see all important places, to visit Syria and a part of Lebanon.
I have only nice memories from Jordan: I gave up smoking, divorced my first wife and met my current one.
Jordan is the “Country – Museum”; almost all places are mentioned in the Bible. I managed to visit all of them, some a few times.
JORDAN
Prvi put sam bio u Jordanu 1980. Tri nedelje po pocetka rata izmedju Iraka I Irana, ja sam napustio Irak kolima I usao u Jordan. Na putu za Beograd, proveo sam 3 nedelje putujuci kroz Jordan, Siriju, I Grcku (gde sam stigao brodom iz Sirije, luka Tartus).
Kasnije, kada sam se vratio u Iraq, posetio sam Aman par puta. Put Bagdad – Aman je otprilike 1000km dug, nije bas dobrog kvaliteta, ide uglavnom kroz pustinju. Brzina nije bila ogranicena.
Jordan mi se svideo jos kada sam prvi put stigao tamo. Oseca se miris mora I Mediterana mada sam Amman nije na moru.
Sledeci put sam otisao kada sam se prebacio iz Iraka 1985 da osnujem radnu jedinicu i da radim kao predstavnik firme i director organizacione jedinice. Imali smo ugovor za jedan posao. U toku boravka potpisan je ugovor za drugi. Ocekivali smo glavni, veliki posao vezan za kraljevsku palatu. Posao nismo dobili.
U Jordanu sam proveo 2 lepe godine od marta 1985 do marta 1987. Imao sam sansu da vidim sva vazna mesta, da opet obidjem Siriju, da odem u Liban.
Jordan pamtim po lepim uspomenama: U vreme boravka tamo, ostavio sam pusenje, razveo se od prve supruge I upoznao sadasnju.
Jordan je inace, zemlja – muzej. Skoro sva istorjska mesta u Jordanu, spomenuta su u Bibliji. Obisao sam sve I to vise puta.
